Our team was named after the original baseball team in Shreveport. Ou first team played in 1895. Through many league & owner changes, our team name got changed. We were the Captains for many years and had alot of support, but them we got new owners. They changed the name to the Swamp Dragons and lost alot support. We now have new owners and a new league (American Association) and are back to the original name. We made it to playoffs last year and are looking foward to a great season this year. Trying to regain the support lost by the Swamp Dragon ordeal.

The Swamp Dragons came in and made alot of changes that did not appeal to the fans (like the name). It was more of a party atmosphere than the family one that had always been there. I guess they were okay if you wanted to watch the game from a hot tub.

Given that hot tub seats are not uncommon in the AA (and NoL) I hope things are better now with the Sports. I plan to be there for a couple games the first week in June and will get a chance to see for myself.

I would love to meet you when you come down. I will introduce you to our booster club. We formed the booster club last year. We had a good year for it being our first year. We learned alot from our accomplishments, as well as, our mistakes. We are planning for the new year now and looking forward to an even better year. We had fun last year and gave our players some much needed support. I know you travel to alot of stadiums, we would love suggestions. We are trying to work on getting butts in seats and a little better meda coverage.

I look forward to meeting you and other Sports fans while I'm there. Since the Saints will not be playing your team while I'm there I'll even be "root, root rooting" for the home team against the Diablos for at least two of the four games (June 5 & 6).
Does your booster club have some "online home?" If so, I'll add links to it. If not, please feel free to spread the word have them use these forums. |
