Well we made it all the way from Marfa to Corpus today. It was a long drive but I was able to make it to both games (missing only the first half of the first game). Now if I can get the local VW dealership to debug my bug (again) I'll feel safe for the rest of this trip.
Fairgrounds Field is rather nice with the mission look. One thing that struck me was how strong the sun fields are. Since the stadium is not terribly "high" the sun's is really in your face on the third base side. Coming after games in El Paso (where the field is oriented to the SE) this was rather striking --mainly because being so much further south the sun is a problem for both fans and players alike.
Another shock is switching from the dry heat of El Paso to the humidity of the Gulf Coast. Yes. It's much "stickier" here.

I don't know if this is a temporary or chronic problem but my Aviators' guide (when I can get to it) will suggest bringing mosquito repellent. At least they're big, slow and stupid so they're easy to swat, but they were bad this evening and I wasn't the only one annoyed by them.
