independentbaseball.net has a story link on how El Paso is getting 2 CoBL franchises.
The story gets curious right off the bat...
As usual the CoBL is stumbling into the 2010 season with 4 teams, one a road team. Their site also has leads with $50 player tryouts but short of any details. There's a site for the Montain Lions but nothing (at all) on it to say where they're going to play. I guess that's TBD like the entire 2010 CoBL schedule -- which is also MIA with only weeks until it should start.
The story gets curious right off the bat...
The Continental Baseball League recently announced that a New York State League team will become the Desert Valley Lions and will play in El Paso this season. The league also announced that the Coastal Kingfish will be the league's travel team and will be based out of El Paso.Nowhere do they mention where they will play. It could be Cohen, but I doubt it for many reasons. First, why would the Diablos allow a direct competitor to share their facility. Secondly, Cohen is far too large for a CoBL franchise. Short of a major jump in attendance, the Mountain Lions might lose money each game trying to staff and manage the place.
