A Lot to Give Up???? |

So did Forney give up too much in Methany, Davis and Bay for Harrison?

Bay is a very good Northern League pitcher, Davis appeared to be done and Methany's legs don't allow him to catch for an extended period of time and
that leaves him without a position on the Goldeyes. So in my opinion, this becomes Bay for Harrison.

YES, a LOT to give up | ||

Bay, Metheney and, Davis are all quality players.
Each has been with the team multiple years, is well known and well liked by fans. All three are well liked by teammates, contributing the exceptional camaraderie in the clubhouse. Harrison simply came in at the end of the season as a hired bat. He did that very well, but has yet to earn the respect that the other three have. |

I think we won't know till next season. If Methany and Davis play like they did this year then Low is right, it becomes a one for one deal. But if those 2
can turn their game around then Forney paid way to much. Time will tell.

The most overrated thing in sports is "clubhouse leadership." Productive play on the field that results in victories is what matters. Davis was
horrible from mid June on, (perhaps he was injuried we don't know that for sure) while Matheny scuffled all year battling various well documented ailments.
(Shoulder, and legs)
Harrison produced on the field. That is what is required from LS5 and up players in the Northern League. |

I am trying to remember when Metheney was last a quality player while playing for the Goldeyes. This last season was a disapointing one for fans. I for one
exspect a veterin player to hit for a higher average than 256 and 12 homeruns.
He quite on the team last season and came back and was a disaster finishing the season and during the playoffs Metheney when it came down to the crunch games in the playoffs against Fargo in the playoffs this year had only 1 hit in each game I do not think he would have made next seasons team and I think he was a throw in, in this trade For Joliet's sake I hope he can bounce back and help them |

Good pitching is hard to come by in this League. This is somthing that Joliet has been lacking for years. I am not so sure that Winnipeg can find a immediate
replacement and . Not taking anything from what Vince Harrison can do at 3rd but I give the edge to Joliet on this trade. Correct me if I am wrong but only the
rights to these player have been traded they still have to sign with there respective team. So neither team has this as a done deal yet?

FMHawksFan wrote:True only their rights have been traded although Harrison has already said he wants to come back to the 'Eyes next season. Of the 3 going to the Hammers Methany might be the biggest question mark. Caretaker was right, Methany hasn't played well since he left the Wpg middle of 2008 to go to Taiwan. |

You can never tell with Indy league trades. Perhaps Bay wants to be closer to home, he might not even play in Joliet. Davis was pretty bad. You also have to
consider the roster status situation. Have the Goldeyes re-signed Harrison?

Harrison might have said he wants to come back | ||
|
but he is a free agent. His contract is up and he can play anywhere he wants.
