Well, our guys gave us another great season but came up short in the Finals. Congratulations to the RedHawks for getting it done.
After the game, I heard Viano's assessment about how the 'Cats lost: lack of offense. He made lots of good points.
Now we all appreciate Tagert's style of play, which emphasizes singles and doubles as opposed to homers, but having two, perhaps three, guys who are homerun threats would be good. We really only have one, Guerrero. In his analysis, Viano talked about the core of the team, the veterans Pecci, Haake, and Cogan, and whether they would be back. (For NoL standards, they are getting up there in age.) Pecci, especially, disapeared on offense for the entire post-season. There was also a sign that he and McNamee weren't mentally into the game last night when a RedHawk stole second base without either 'Cat covering.
By the way, does anyone know what happened to Anthony Esquer? Was he injured? I noticed that there was a third catcher, some guy named McKeon on the roster, but Esquer was still listed as well.
Let's do it again -- but with the champagne flowing our way -- next year!
