Plain and simple. Not hitting with runners in scoring position, costly errors, baserunning errors, etc. This team had this division wrapped up Saturday night and has proceded to wash all the hard work of the second half down the drain. Nunez hitting below the mendoza line...what a pickup! Burress finally gets a hit and runs into an easy out at second trying for a double in a one run game? This is getting ugly.

When does Steve Alexander get a chance to play again? What was the deal with Norm Hutchins? He seemed like a decent pickup for the week and a half that we had him. The eternal optimist in me says that we now have all of the losses to Wichita out of our system and we're ready to handle them in the playoffs.....I Hope!! First off, we better win at least two of the last three in SF!

He was back in uniform and then gone. Maybe he was injured...I don't know. But this team changed when he came on board and has now gone in the tank with him gone. I would take Pichi in the DH hole any day of the week over Nunez (.200 in 7 games). He's been through the division battles and was still producing at the plate. This team is hitting .216 during the losing streak...that's not bad luck, that's bad baseball. They better hold on to this 8-7 lead in the 5th...but they've been blowing leads all week. Sr, I wish I was an eternal optimist, but I can't ignore this. St Paul and Wichita are taking care of business and we're floundering. I'll root 'til the end, but its getting tougher.

This collapse will go down in the history books....Lincoln doesn't seem to do well at the "hired assassin" game that some of these teams play at the end of the year...where's Kit Pellow? Always buying and trading for Lincoln Baseball Memorabilia 1885-2008.
