In addition, 3B Yurendell DeCaster was selected to the team but will not participate after having his contract purchased by the New York Yankees earlier today. DeCaster was the top vote-getter in the Northern League.

Posts: 575 ( 1-Jul-09 00:07:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	DeCaster was one of the best players i had the pleasure to watch in a 'hawk jersey. solid offensively and a pure JOY to watch with a glove on at 3rd base. I think any all-star game that includes 1/3 of the league's players is gunna be watered down and some of the redhawk 'all-stars' are indicative of that. though they are all solid players and all of them have moments of greatness, i wouldn't classify ALL of them as having 'allstar' seasons. That being said Randall Simon is both deserving of the honor and will certainly entertain the fans with his allstar personality.

The greatest casualty was Randall's MLB career.. i think they would rather sweep him under the rug and forget all about him. he is a joy to watch play baseball. It's obvious that he enjoys the game and he has incredible talent. It didn't take me more then a few innings to be won over.. he's worth the price of admission and in the even more relaxed invironment of an all-star game i would guess he's gunna have a lot of fun.

He did make up for it a bit, by buying Italian Sausages for an entire section of fans at Miller Park when he returned later that year as a member of the Chicago Cubs. I don't think the sausage incident spelled the demise of his MLB career as much as dwindling numbers did. www.10thinningstretch.blogspot.com

Watching Randall Simon bop his head and move to "Low" when he comes to bat is the best.
