it really doesn't seem like anyone knows any news on Ruben, and it doesn't seem like Ruben is too concerned with contacting the team.
i finally made my first game of the year today, and i understand it when you say you miss last years team. It seems like an entirely new cast out there and that is something Redhawk fans have not had to deal with for quite some time. The fact is we have been spoiled, there are not many franchises in all of Indy baseball that have had the continuity that FM has had. In particular Joe Mathis has been the face of the team for half a decade, and Salazar has been alternately infuriating and thrilling 'hawks fans for as long. It seems strange to have Penphrase leading off the game, to not hear the chants: "let's go broadway joe", "hit it far, salazar". But we do have the continuity in some places. Penphrase and Carlo Cota return as solid a middle infield as can ever be hoped for at this level. The pitching staff returns some proven performers, and NDSU alum Jerimiah Peipcorn provides both pop in the batting order and insurance in case Penphrase gets another midseason chance in affiliated ball. at this point where would rueban play? he's not better then decaster or simon. At this point he would be a VERY expensive DH. The offense started off slowly, but it looks to be very capable of producing enough runs to put them in position to make the playoffs again (not exactly tough in this league). Perhaps ruben will be back in a hawks uniform by the time the playoffs get here, perhaps not. |
