Aaron Crow |
Lead | |
|
Aaron Crow started for the Cats and went 1 2/3. Gave up three runs, but only one was earned. Three hits, struck out three. Not great but not terrible last
night. His pitches didn't seem to have a lot of movement on them and the Airhogs kind of had him figured out. He was hitting around 93 mph consistently,
according to the scouts there. I hadn't seen that many at LaGrave since Hochevar pitched.

I was next to a Braves scout and was over looking his gun as he clocked Crow. The best I saw was 95 but Horse was dead on most were at 93. His strike outs were
all on pitches 85-87 mph. No strick outs were that of pitches in the 90's. He did seem to be tense, working a little slow, and at one time after a walk I
could hear him say the "f" word. He looked as though he was putting added pressure on himself to impress. But overall for a first Spring preformance,
first professional start even if it was exhibition season, he did seem to have top prospect stuff. I would look for him to increase innings next time, that or
pitch count, which he was obviously on last night, and I would think he may get the avg speed up to 95. Also he may start mixing up his pitches more, he seemed
to be throwing more heat than the off speed stuff. Cant wait to see start number 2.

Well looks like Aaron Crow is all he was hyped up to be. Aaron was named pitcher of the week for the first week of the season. I was sorry to see the Cats made
NO mention at all of this as of Tuesday the 19. In his first start he was the dominate pitcher that will be a sure fire 1st round pick could be top 3-5. His
stats 5ip 2 hits two walks and 9k's. Better get over to LaGrave and get a ball signed before he is gone!!!

Still No mention of Aaron Crow on the Cats web site as Pitcher of the Week!!! Aaron went out and threw another shutout for I believe 6 innings or so. Heard the
Knothole speakers were not working so it made it very hard for students and teachers including Mrs. Lamearmjr not to be able to hear the PA announcer or the
anthem, hopefully that will be fixed soon. Since the Cats wont say much about him I will, GREAT GAME AARON!!!

The ST says he will be starting one more time at home on the next home stand against the Wingnuts. I have looked at different sites and seen mock drafts and
two have him going to Pittsburgh at 4 one talks about him falling to around 10 or so to KC. Would be nice if the Cats would have a draft party on draft night
at Lagrave. Maybe some sort of event with the Cats radio broadcast over the PA, and soon as Crow is drafted show it on the Jumbotron. Maybe they could do some
sort of interview before or after he gets picked. But the Cats are not talking much about him, so it probably wont even be on the web site the day after he is
picked. They are still in love with Max, heck Aaron could be better than Max...

Crow/ Max/etc. | ||
|
Our media relations department, headed by David Hatchett and Emil Moffatt have done a marvelous job promoting Aaron Crow. He's had just as much, and
probably more, hype on our website than Max or Luke. Witness your own remark a few posts above this one whereby you stated that "Crow is all that he was
hyped up to be". Who would you accuse of "hyping" Crow? So on one hand, you imply that we gave him a lot of "hype" and on the
other hand, you accuse us of not giving him enough "hype".... suggesting a draft party, etc. etc.

I admire you for sticking it out on this forum JPD....you're damned if you do and damned if you don't, but you always respond and this forum benefits
from having you here. Enjoy Crow while you have him...I saw him pitch for Mizzou a few times and he's a special talent.

The hype I was refering to is ESPN, the draft, and scouts... It does make snce that you dont want to make it all the Aaron show, as the team has other players
that should be in affilated baseball, just wanted to hear more about him on the site. It would be intresting to hear who thought the Cats were doing too much
for Crow...

Crow critique | ||
|
As I've said before, I will take the criticism for all staff and while I might share with you what was discussed among our staff, I will not single out
names you will have to continue to direct your criticism to me. Ultimately, I am responsible for everything and I do want our people to know that a) I support
them and b) they have as much freedom as I can possibly allow to do their job in the best way they can. If we feel that we cannot support someone on our staff
or that they are no longer on board with our core beliefs, then they will no longer be on our staff.

After watching tonights game from the confines of the Knothole I have two questions: 1. The draft is June 9 so will Aaron make another start next week against
El Paso? 2. What are the buildings behind the Knothole, never really thought about it but Mrs. Lamearmjr asked me tonight??

Buildings | ||
|
There are three former construction office trailers which are used to store things such as field drying agent and other bagged material which must be kept dry
because you never know when it might be needed. They also use them to store other materials, such as fertilizer, to maintain the playing field, other supplies
such as large cases of paper goods for the restrooms and a host of other misc. stadium maintenance supplies, etc. Bigger ballparks have a warehouse, or areas
under the stands, etc. for the multitude of products and supplies that must be kept dry, but, as I've said before, with LaGrave being privately financed,
we need to "make-do" with some less than perfect, yet functional, storage systems.
The little tan garage building with the green roof has a small office for the stadium operations manager and a garage where things like the carts, and a host of tools and equipment are kept. Over time, old signs, and a bunch of other things tend to accumulate in these buildings and that is when we have a "yard sale" to get rid of a lot of it (which you described last fall as a desperate cash grab, as I recall). The closer small building in front of the storage trailers is the property of a gentleman who uses the big parking lot to conduct motorcycle safety training. It is used for the classroom portion of the training. He usually has 6-8 students per group on weekend mornings. JPD |

Aaron is staying with the team (on the inactive list) through the end of the El Paso series. You have seen his final start as a Cat. We wish him well and
will follow him closely as we do with all of our alumni. He has been absolutely phenominal both on and off the field. Thank you Aaron!

Is there any reason why the next Matt Harrington (Aaron Crow) not continue pitching for the Cats? Is there something that says once drafted he cannot pitch in
the Indy Leagues? Or is this a dont risk getting hurt measure? Since he can continue talking with KC since he has played pro ball, he may want to stay sharp
incase he signs with KC his arm would be ready to pitch now. But with Strasburg signing with the Nats, it makes Aaron's selfish mentality look that much
worse. Just think the Nats could have had Crow and Strasburg in the rotation in September. Wow Strasburg will be there, while Matt I mean Aaron Crow sits at
home making nothing crying about KC not matching the money he said no to last year. It serves him right!! I wonder if Matt can put in a good word for Aaron at
CostCo he needs the work!!!!
