Doesn't he still owe the city or county money down in Coastal Bend, where the Aviators' doom was sealed when they were locked out of their ballpark by local officials?

Sounds like 2009 may be "scaled back" somewhat to avoid similar overruns. As for CB, I think the Aviators went down the full bankruptcy leaving nothing for Nueces Co. to collect.

The real story they use is from the Wichita Business Journal where all the details of the 'Nuts finances are laid out. Amongst them are the $1M franchise fee and other expenses. The bottom line (about the Wingnuts "bottom line") is that startup costs were double what was budgetted ($600K, not $300K), that includes a $56K loss on the NBC (because of an attendance drop of 7K due to bad weather). I think Kevin & Co. are correct that Horn Chen should have known better given his experience in starting up franchises. The WBJ article closes with a comment from 'Nuts GM Josh Roberston that says "the 2009 budget is set to have the team operate in the black."
