Ah...a little sneaky, those Shreveport people...we had Captains guessed, but no one called the Bossier part beforehand.
It's a good change on a couple of levels. The new logo is a HUGE improvement over the old (which, really, wasn't hard to do since "Sports" just didn't lend itself to anything cool). Adding Bossier to the name is good marketing, and I noticed that they also held yesterday's announcement in Bossier City. My question for the franchise, though, is still this: how well can they draw people to Fair Grounds Field? It's not the nicest stadium, it's very near to a very bad part of town, and Shreveport would have been the worst-drawing team in the league three years in a row if St. Joe hadn't fallen off the map in 2007. The new management team had better plan on putting in long hours selling this team to the community, starting yesterday. They probably have to work harder than every other team in the AA, because they're starting so far back. |

Wow the logo looks great and they realize that to re build a fan base they have to start with being fan friendly. 5.00 tickets 200.00 for season tickets and
free parking is a great start. Now lets hope they can make some renovations to FGF. Theres no reason the Captains shouldnt rank in the middle half in
attendance this season.
Go CAPTAINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

You'll be able to buy a all you can drink beer, liquer food all for one price! So Craig and Chet to make the fans happy! Thus the "It's a whole
new ballgame" Also a new score board with video screen. Even the mayors of both cities are on board with the upgrades to the stadium. There will be

I dunno...at 5 bucks a pop, it's gonna take some real doing for the Captains to break even over the long run. Unless the idea is the standard "get
'em in here cheap while the team is losing, but when they finally are winning again, raise ticket prices once we got the fans hooked" play that seems
to be the standard in sports. Even so, what makes anyone think things are going to be any different in S-town no. Takes more than $5 tickets, a new paint job
in the stadium and food improvements. Hasn't this been tried before there?

Last year the Sports had a total of 57,975 fans. If I take that number a say the average ticket cost was 9.00 (some higher some lower) the total was 521775.00.
This year at five dollars a ticket say they average 2800 per game times 46 games is 128800 fans for the season. Take that number and times it by 5 is
644000.00. to make more than last year they need to have the final number of fans to equal about 104500 or 2271 per game an increase of only 923 fans per game.
Then add to that fans buying hats, shirts, programs, and food all in all it wont take all that much to beat last years numbers.

Just watched the news clip from Shreveport guess the first step in the process is to alert the media that the Caps are not "Semi Pro" .
