Wow, quite a homecoming. Two HR's in two games.
Makes me worry what will happen when Pichi comes to town.
He was hitting at a good clip before he got hurt anyway (.688)
Which leads me to ask:
1- Why do you get rid of guys like Josh and Pichi? Obviously they can still play at a very high level.
and
2- If you are determined to get rid of them, why do you let them go to teams that are in your league and worse yet, your division? At least we sent Yako to 'Jersey.
and
3- If you let them go to a rival team, why don't you at least deplete that team's roster a little in exchange? Couldn't we have gotten Marcel Longmire in exchange for Pichi? After all, Longmire is playing pretty well and we've already released Felix Jose.

Just curious about this as so far, my fears have been somewhat justified.

I'm talking to whoever thought a housecleaning was in order, be it Johnson, Utrip, Meyer, or Abel.
Remember, after the well-documented debacle at NU, people in Lincoln are a little leery about messing with a good thing.
I felt like the 'dogs had something special going on here for several years. Heck, Bryan and Josh became full-time, home-owning citizens of Lincoln, which I imagine is pretty unusual in this arena. In addition, I know of a couple of others who spent a large chunk of the off season here as well. It wasn't unusual to see those guys at the gym, grocery store, mall, etc. Also, they were great community ambassadors for the team. Somehow, I don't see that happening with Contreras, Perez, Rios, etc. I see them to be more like baseball "mercenaries" who come into town with bat and glove and play for a paycheck. I hope these guys do well, but even if they do, it won't be the same as it was watching Bryan shaking the bottle of bubbly and spraying every fan on the left field line. Now those are great memories!
