RailCats got a nice outing out of Cogan and the Hammers should be very happy with Sevier's start. The Hammers showed some fundamentally sound baseball. The Cats? Ummm .... we need to work on some things in Gary, like getting a few baserunners. All the same, a crisply played opener.

I thought Cogan threw a couple of really NASTY hooks for strikes that may not have been. But they were so cool, no way was the ump gonna let that get away. I can't say I saw flurries but the wind off Lake Woebegone was about enough for me. I spent part of the 8th inning in the team store watching it on the monitor. Yeah, call me fair-weather. Guess I'm just too frreeeeezing old. I think the Hammers may be onto something this year. Some are saying Wally's a beast. Whatever ... they play like this, they'll put butts in the seats at SC. I hope to be there again Saturday.
