The Canaries' 2008 schedule breaks down in some interesting ways. I think we better make a run for the play-offs in the first half.
Reasons:
In the first half, we have 26 home games and only 22 away. In the second half, it's reversed.
In the first half, we play 35 intra-divisional games but 23 of those games are in Sioux Falls - we play a single three-game series each in Lincoln, St. Paul, Sioux City, and Wichita. Our 13 south division games that half break down as 3 in Sioux Falls and 10 down south (on two different road trips).
In the second half, things are different. We play a full 39 intra-divisional games, but we only get 13 of them at home. We play six each in Lincoln and St. Paul and seven each in Sioux City and Wichita. Our nine south division games are all at home.
Since winning the division is going to be primarily affected by how we do against our divisional rivals, it seems like that home/away ratio really helps us in the first half and hurts us in the second.
That being said, last year we went 27-21 at home and 26-22 on the road, so maybe homefield advantage isn't that big a deal for this team.
