One thing's clear, the airing of such problems in the press has not done any good for the league. That you have all parties throwing mud around makes this, in some ways, uglier than the AA split --as least publicly.

The FACT that I point out that Veeck and Bill Murray put Independent Professional Baseball on the front pages of every newspaper and magazine in North America hardly is sucking up. Been to St. Paul too watch baseball a dozen times, if it were nt for those two guys I would never of ventured into the Metropolis of St. Paul. GREAT ballpark!!!! They do not have stadiums and too build is atleast 2 years away. Is Saskatoon and Regina good cities for the Northern League. They both have populations that would definitely support the respective franchise, so yes. Do they a deep rooted baseball history....yes! And so on and so on.... I would love to see both of those cities in the league, it would put an end to all this Alberta leaving, travel, blah blah blah. But the bottom line is, who is willing to put up the cash in Regina and Saskatoon. and are they willing to build a stadium on there own. No way will you get a dime from the governments in those respective cities. The beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL have been playing ina coffin for the past 50 years in Regina. If they cannot get money from the government for a new stadium, no way would anyone get a dime for a baseball park! Coach

Anyways all saskatoon needs to do is renovate their park. They'll have to because the cracker-cats will be playing their for home games for 2 weeks cause Telus Field will be occupied by the World Little League Championships.

The NDP has a lock on that province and if the government does not see a new stadium in Regina for the Roughriders, then baseball is waaaay down the potential list. The best fit for infrastructure is the Saskatoon ballpark, but it needs alot of work before it could comfortably sit 2,500 people. Now with that said, if a Northern league team was to come in and do it in stages....maaaaaybe????? But with the new parks in the league, Saskatoon and Regina are little league standards by comparison. Hey Trapper, the Cracker Cats will no doubt get some keen interest for there stay in Saskatoon. These games in Saskatoon might just be the answer for the potential owners, this could be the barometer. Good Luck In The Toon, Coach

It has standards to maintain. The three Chicago teams all have classy ballparks. My understanding is that most of the other NoL cities play in good stadia. Good parks add to the league's credibility. To expand into second or third rate facilities simply for the sake of expanding is not an option. It would be a giant step backward.

Zilch. Ray and coach have it right. There are NO ballparks in good enough condition to truly house a proper NoL club. You can dream that old ballparks could be good enough but but they aren't now and without major upgrades never will be.. If they were there would have been far more activity there in the past several years than pure "lip service." Maybe the GBL would be interested, their standards aren't as high. The NoL does not want to go backwards. Given the state of the NoL, there are going to be very FEW ownership groups willing to take a risk on a Canadian franchise. The constant bickering in the press, along with all the threats/discussion of leaving, does nothing but make that situation worse. This is easily more important since the single biggest factor in a franchise is money --if you don't have it, nothing happens, period. The October owners' meeting, if things don't blow up sooner, will set the tone for the future of the league. After all the issues around inter-league play, schedules and/or departures are resolved the league will finally be able to do some real planning for its future.

IN MY OPNION It would be a good location for the north division. Is this what you meant in your post or am i reading it wrong, jonjon?
