At least two managers in the NoL are being criticized for brat behavior, which leads to their short suspensions, wimpy little fines and admonishment from everybody who is a fan of the opposing team.
I see managers getting caught up in forfeits, beanball wars (come ON ... this is indy ball) helmet throwing ... so while we perhaps have no trend in managers acting this way, combined into a lump sum, it seems the nature of the low-level minor leagues is rapidly taking on its own life form.
I do acknowledge that there are a few of us who pay more attention to this than the fans who just go for the fun of it, but I believe that if I saw this sort of thing more than once at the Steel Yard, I'd stop going to the games until somebody orchestrated a policy change. It doesn't do anything to improve quality of play and it isn't all that much fun to watch.
I guess if we want to lead it toward extreme sport, we could give only lucky fan a "paint gun" of some type and see if he can pick somebody off first base. And if we really get good at THAT, wow! Think what we could do with real bullets!!!
Whatever the market will bear.
