If he was I would hope some of your Fan Club look into putting on a Social to raise money to help Doug out. I think Doug said something that needed to be said and he was speaking for all of us. If your team owners won't allow it I would suggest organizing a large goup and take a collection outside of the Park during your first home stand and give it to Doug

If Simmy would be fined for comments like that he'd be broke. And if he was, I'm sure he could both afford to pay the fine and probably, as a matter of principle want to pay it.

Talk is cheap, unless you're Doug Simunic. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager is in hot water with the Northern League over comments he made to the Free Press as well as on a Goldeyes radio broadcast last week... The league has yet to levy a fine, but it's expected to be in the $5,000 to $10,000 range. Simunic issued a brisk "no comment" when reached on Thursday. no mention of any fines in the fargo press.. but there was also no mention of Simmy's comments to the Winnipeg press.

I also found out that for the time bing Steve would be making all comments so Simmy wouldn't be bated into making good press. We all know Simmy is his own worst enemy as he can't not keep his mouth shut, he is like a bull in a china shop and when he gets on a roll it all hangs out. Steve I am sure wanted him to get out of Winnipeg with out further damage. I still think Simmy was speaking for all Northern League Fans and in his mind said things that he felt had to be said but not very diplomatically.

Also nice to see Cole Zimmerman come through with a big game as well off the bench. We seem to do better in Gary than any other team 24-6 all time during the regular season at the Steelyard and 50-11 all time during the regular season overall. Going for the hopeful sweep tommorrow.

Doug I was Embarrassed to see your team throw not once but twice before you hit Brent Metheny. Why him Doug presently he is the best hitter in the league and today he , extended his league-best hitting streak to 27 games, tying Luis Ortiz's franchise record set in 2001. If you had a message to deliver why not someone else. Brent has a chance to make history why would you risk hurting him of all people It was great that Kevin West immediatly answered your classless action by hitting a 500 foot home run. Then to see you putting on your childish act of yelling and running around . at the end of the game. If you had something to say to Rick why were you not a man and go to his office and talk. No you carried on infront of his children. As far as 'backing up a truck to move players out', this is Fargo not Winnipeg. Panic is seldom the order of the day. In this watered down version of the NoL all a team has to do is stay above two other teams.. and the 'hawks are a good bet to get that done. It is nice that you can take time out from baiting GBL fans into childish debates on par with my big brother can beat yer big brother to gloat about the Goldeyes early success against Fargo. Goldeye Fans also have yet to even see what a Moosehead Cup looks like unless they have visited Newman Outdoor Field. Amazingly even after losing 5 straight to the Goldeyes the Hawks are still only 2.5 games out of first. The Season is long from over. I am not condoning Simmy's actions either if he intentionally through at a batter but you can't tell me that Rick Forney has not done the same considering he is a Pitcher by trade. Rick Forney also has shown that he can be a Donkey himself more than one time in his coaching career. I have seen it live a Newman more than once. I would not call it acting like a Donkey though I would call it maybe lighting a fire under the team. It's called competive spirit and it is done in every sport. Just look at Bobby Cox. Garry Bakker threw a gutsy game and Nate Cotten earned his ninth safe. Guess only two Goldeyes hit by your pitchers Father Simmie and I sat and yaked for five minutes and he put on his poker face and pleaded that Fargo didn't try to hit Metheny, that he would never ask a rookie to throw at some one. I have known him far to long to buy his story. When the first one misses the head and the second one hits well I think deliberate.
