Can anyone recommend a really close (walking distance) hotel near the park? Or even a hotel that shuttles people to and from the park. I am trying to locate the closest so our whole group can have a few drinks with out needing a DD when we come down for the Kansas City and Redhawks series at the end of August.

In the updated loding section in my KCK guide I mentioned the
Holiday Inn Express (913-328-1024) that's at Parallel Pkwy and I-435. Essentially it's on the other side of the
Legends Mall. I've not stayed there, but it looked nice enough. If you're going with kids who need a water park and/or have money to burn you could
try the Great Wolf Lodge. It's a little closer. I don't think their are any other options since everything else
is retail (shops, restaurants and cinemas)..
If your groups going drinking, either will work just fine since all the bars and restaurants are in between and neither are too terribly far away from the ball park (3-5 big city blocks). Look at Google maps (with satellite view) to get an idea. The Holiday Inn Express is north of the big Nebraska Furniture Mart (with the huge white roof); Great Wolf Lodge is east of the race track (the buildings with the red roofs and big swimming pool). |

They'll have lots of places to park cars... You'll just have to drive from one lot to another since it's not pedestrian friendly.

There is also a Ramada Inn across from the Wolf Lodge. My granddaughter and I stayed there. A word of caution--when we were there in August, there was a lot
of construction going on (Chicago-style:), and a 20 minute trip back to our hotel in the other KC ended up 1 1/4 hours--after a night game. That's when we
moved to the Ramada. For $50 a night more, the short distance and the safety was worth it.

There is actually a hotel basically in the CAB parking lot. It is new and just opened a few months ago. It is really like a 30 second walk to the stadium
entrance. I think it is like a Country Inn and Suites or something like that.

It's a Carlson Country Inn. It's open, by the by. ADDED ADVANTAGE: one can avoid having to drive in and out of the parking lot before and after
games, thus saving significant amounts of fuel and medication...

Yep.
Actually, I just thought it might be helpful to have the phone number and address, so I called the T-Bones office. They didn't know. I looked up Country Inn, Inc. (or whatever they are), searched their site for Kansas City, KS, and got the proper info. Of course, it's gonna be dangerous walking from that hotel to the ballpark, knowing all those crazy drag-racing season ticket holders that zoom through the parking lot about that time. . . |
