I can't weigh in much on the argument of increased attendance but does anybody know ... is the AtL still going to use that Road Warriors team?
I can't see how that really helps attendance much. (Yeah, this thread isn't about the AtL but if you want to move it elsewhere, I will follow it.)

We veered off course here a little. With a difference of 200 fans a game being touted as skyrocketing, I think it bears noting that something as simple as road construction around here can affect attendance at a RailCats game by as much as 1,500 fans! The major route into the ballpark is the lifeblood of 180,000 cars and trucks every day. One rollover and traffic backs up for 30 miles.

You may ask what this has to do with anything but the fact is that if we want to talk about attendance figures in any league for any team, we need to look at all aspects of it. The league can present a nice package and fill it with good solid franchises who have to depend, at times, on events that are out of their control.

This goes back to the GBL and specifically to the Alberta teams. Not much has worked in either city for the past few years and there is no evidence that anybody has changed anything except content on a Website.

Creating a Canadian division, or even promoting one, in an effort to keep these teams alive seems an expensive guess but one we can easily propose on this board. The economy is full bore headed toward recession right now. Bigger leagues, expansion ... all looks good but it's a threat to bloat the market.
