Good for Hal.. I know there are a lot of fans of his out there. This is kinda sad in a way to see Hal continue to move down the ladder of independant baseball. I mean I guess he could have wound up in the South Coast League, but jeez. The worst team in the Can-am?? Guess there's no place to go but up

Remember who won all 4 of the Northern League Championships during the merger...the East teams.

All three leagues have very similar roster rules (i.e. 4 vets, 4 rookies, at least one LS-1, no more than 4 Ls-4,etc.) and salary caps in all three are in the same range. That is pretty much going to guarantee that they are competitive with one-another. When the NoL teams split off to form the AA, the finals in each of the first two seasons have been Fort Worth vs. St. Paul and Fort Worth was the winner. When the earlier incarnation of the Can-Am (NoL East) was playing all-star and post season against the NoL, the Eastern group was quite successful against the NoL. Now, if Hal Lanier can bring his experience and previous success to Sussex, it will just make the Can-Am that much better. Nick Belmonte has historically assisted Hal with players both in Winnipeg and Joliet. Does anyone know if Nick Belmonte was also part of the deal in Sussex?
