"But I should caution that there is nothing signed yet, and we are still in negotiations. But the feeling is it will happen." The Wizards, though, are far less committal. "We are still having talks regarding two potential sites," said Wizards executive vice president Greg Cotton. "But because of confidentiality agreements, I can't really comment beyond that." We'll have to see how this plays out.

In baseball if your kid strikes out 4 times you know he sucks. In soccer no one can score anyway so its not as obvious to everyone else that your kid sucks.

They'll make improvements to CAB including adding new seating and parking options. Not sure what they mean by parking, but if they add a garage or pave some of the area by the speedway that would be great for baseball fans. They say the Wizards average 11.6k fans and that with the changes they'll seat10k in CAB, which currently seats just under 5k but typically holds around 7-8k for weekend T-Bones games (and once held just over 10k). There's a diagram of the field in the paper version of the KC Star. The soccer field will be East-West (at CAB the batter looking at the pitcher is looking roughly North-East), so the soccer field goes lengthwise from the left field line out towards right field, with it's south most line being just outside the pitcher's mount (ie: pitchers mound won't be in play but the infield between 2nd and 3rd will be. The infield will be be grassed over for games. A small "divit" will be put into the right center outfield wall, just where the batter's eye area is, to make room for the north-east corner of the soccer field. Bleachers will be put where the left field berm is now (that's sad since that is one of the coolest features for most people), and they'll add bleachers to the left field walkway and other areas around the park. Temporary bleachers will also be put along the north side of the soccer field at grass level (ie: in left/left-center outfield) for games--now those would be cool seats to have. It's a temporary solution for the Wizards who really have few options at this point (Arrowhead, where they play now will be getting renovated during the next two off-football seasons so they can't play there). Preliminary plans call for fixed seats to be added down the left-field line, replacing the existing berm. Bleachers will also be added behind the additional seats and behind the left-field wall. In order to comply with MLS regulations sod will replace a portion of the infield dirt prior to each game. The sod will be removed and replaced with the proper infield surface before T-Bones games. Plans to augment the available parking are also in the works to better accommodate the additional fans the Wizards expect to draw. so they're adding seats, so there goes the charm of sitting on the berm or standing around and watching the game over the bull pen. Parking will be a nightmare! I'm sure that this will ruin the charm of the stadium. It might be the year make a road trip to another stadium, Sorry Mitch and Rock! I guess the only questions is will the whopper man recalled to yell "GOAL" over the speakers?

If the diagram is accurate (at all) they'll have to crack into the outfield fence for the field and corner space. That notch may add a little more excitement for balls hit into the gap. I also wonder if the pitcher's mound will be in the "pitch" (soccer field). It looks like it will fall just out of bounds and is probably why the pitch is not pressed down to the picnic berm (and the cause of the new outfield notch. I don't know how well temporary sod (on the infield dirt) will work. Baseball should be fine; soccer may have some bad footing in an area where it'll matter most (in the box).

Supposedly where the corner of the soccer layout is in the outfield wall, the wall will be configured with some type of "temporary" setup where it can be changed back for T-Bones games:

But they'll have to crack some concrete to get the space for it. Also this Photoshopped photo doesn't reflect the amount of extra space beyond the corner that is required. I doubt "Becks" (or anyone else) will want to kick corners right on the chalk. Otherwise, assuming more of the dimensions are correct (clearly they aren't "square" in this image), I'm surprised how well it fits.
