Tail Gating parties in the Northern League??? |
Lead | |

In the CFL they have what are called tail gating parties before each game.
Does it exist in the Northern League anywhere? |

KC yes, WPG no, GARY a bit | ||

Based on last year's road trips....
There seems to be a dedicated bunch in KC who may be found in the parking lot in front of the main (West?) entrance. They were most friendly to us.
In Gary, there was one small group at a Saturday playoff game, they may be more active during the summer.
There is no tailgating at CanWest in Winnipeg. I't illegal to consume alcohol in a non-lisenced public place.
The best tailgating is still in St Paul. (they're still part of this great league, if in spirit only during pre-season).

although newman field is on the NDSU campus in fargo (meaning no alchoholic beverages permitted) we have tailgated in most of the parking lots (our favorite
being the lot across from the right field fence off albrect ave, second tree from the corner). As long as you put all adult beverages in plastic cups there
isn't a problem. however should you decide to flagrantly display your bottle or can of beer (or leave your bottle of booze out in plain sight) you can be
sure someone will call it in and you will get a visit from campus police. even then i've never had a big problem (just make sure everyone is of age), as
all they will do is break up the party.

And I should point out that I have tailgating information for ALL NoL clubs --current and former-- in each team's guide on my site.
Since tailgating's been a major part of Saints games from the very start I've always tracked that information on the main nlfan.com site. I even have a column for them on the ballpark comparison page. It's also why photos like this one (from the Schaumburg guide) made people in St. Paul wince and those in other parts (like Winnipeg) shrug their shoulders.

At Winnipeg Stadium in the 90s we used to sneak under the beer store across the street only to find several others partying under there already, lol
I am sure people still sneak under there before the games. As for Can West Park, have still yet to see a tail gating party. |

On a weekend you can expect several dozen different groups tailgating in all of the parking lots in KC. Weekdays it's down to under a dozen I'm sure.
Certainly more likely during the first few months of the season instead of the last few months when you could be roasting yourself in the hot sun. The grass
area south of the VIP area or between the lots on the north side seem popular but many times people just set up shop in the parking lot, taking a couple of
parking spaces.

Who here going to any Winnipeg game would like to tail gate? Perhaps we can set something up.
I have the perfect plan and legal way to do it too. Anyway interested? |

Do it on private property on the other side of the bridge in ST B. A short walk from the stadium.
I know just the place too. |
