In case you didn't catch the news, the Canaries had none other than former Twins pitcher Pat Mahomes. Yes, apparently it's still possible to sign former MLB talent into indy leagues other than the AtL.
Clearly something's up with the Canaries this season between that signing and a 9-2 start, they may be quite a contender.
Personal memories of Mahomes
I find some irony in Mahomes signing. Back when he started with the Twins I stood in line with dozens of others to get his autograph at a Twins Pro Shop. He was one of two players signing that day.
The other?
J.T. Bruett: former Twin and former Saint. I find a lot of irony that one of the few times I ever bothered to get such autographs ended up being "doubly" connected to my interest in baseball. I may have to move that ball from the MLB to NoL/AA section of my autograph collection.
