Also that record crowd does not account for the people that are not accounted for in the private boxes because the total seats on the main level is 8000. The private boxes and including the upper deck private box seats brings it up to over 9000.
And yes I counted all 8000 seats last time I was at the stadium.
My english sucks, but my math skills are very good,lol so doing something like that only takes me a short time.

Well this year I am staggering my games meaning, I am making sure each game I go to is not the same as the last game I go too. I am making sure that I see each team equally. I am looking into being at this Sundays game if everything works out with my sceduel.

The all time record crowd with complete standing room sold is 8668 at the new park.

We often wager on each games total attendance so we get to be able to judge crowds pretty good . I would say Yes they made announced crowds above 5000 plus but we felt there were far less than that and like I said in the two exibition games annouced crowds were said to be over 3000 and they were lucky to have had half of that and nearly none after 7 th innings The first 7...

well they announced on the PA that 5245 were there. I thought that it was quite packed. Keep in mind that the stadium holds 9000 plus so 5000 may still seem empty.

No I didn't see ya you must have been in section A or B and being so old I can't see that far.

I was at all 7 plus 2 exibition games. I was going to ask that surly you could see that there wasn't 5200 people in park . I believe the numbers were tickets sold.. First 2 games they said 3000 plus and they were lucky to have 1500 the 7 league games were all poorly attended because of cold.

Yes I was Caretaker. I was at the last game against fargo and we won 7-1. It was very hot in the first inning then freezing by the end of the game.

5245 fans at the game last night with winnipeg 7-1 win over Fargo and it was hot at the beginning of the game and freezing at the end,lol
So yes, it will have more fans show up when its warmer.

The truly ironic part of this is that it was the decision to expand and add the two Alberta clubs was one of the things that helped set the AA secession into motion, and that it was most of our current Sad Six who pushed hardest to get the newcomers into the NoL, and is now so happy to see...

I don't think anyone in the NoL would want them back, period. They caused a great deal of trouble and turmoil that left a mark on the league. Being in Canada would have little to do with trying to UNdo the damage.

Any thoughts about reconciliation would probably require new (AB) owners as a minimum. After that, the AB clubs would have to return to exactly the same agreement (to cover travel) that they had before they left. I'd say that, unlike some/most of the departed AA...

Thanks for the insight, Bill.
One thing we may want to watch is how well/happy the AB teams are in the Golden. Something says they won't come out smelling much better than they were. I don't pay much attention to those teams beyond that.

It would seem Winnipeg might somehow be interested in seeing them come back in some form. Or am I really off base with that?

Having lived through this in 2002 with the "Stray (Rail)Cats" there are no "second set of fans" or double-booking (camping out) at an existing ballpark. That simply doesn't work. There's no way to create or market to a (nonexistent) fan base. It would require adding front office staff to market a "full season" of games. That's why they have that club travel all over and occasionally play as the home team. The...

I still think a Road Warriors team is a useful emergency concept provided that team could "camp out" at one of the existing ballparks, paying only rent and traditional service fees. You could call it the "Suburban Vagabonds" based in ... oh, say ... Schaumberg or Gary. The league could own the team if necessary and see if somebody is willing to buy it.

Why it works is to make use of the ballpark every night of the season.
Downside is asking two sets of fans...

I think you hit the nail on the head... though I don't know any real details of the NoL proposal, it probably was "as good as they could offer." And what they have revealed --that four existing owners (including Mayor Sam) were the ownership group-- does not bode well for "real expansion." Until now all expansion has been with NEW owners willing to pay to join --which is what they presented in Wichita.

What precise strategy could Griffith embrace that would simplify the process for adding teams?
As I see it from my corner, he goes to potential owners/groups in potential cities and asks if they want baseball. If they say yes, he has a model to offer. If they reject that model, it isn't that he promised baseball and delivered soccer.

But I get the impression that the 6 owners (including the new one in Gary) are all in the corner off to themselves making up rules that...

Here's another issue that keeps coming back. People jumping the gun making proclaimations with attendance figures a few weeks into the season. NLFan, maybe you should make a "rubberstamp" reply for this one and save yourself the time it takes to explain...

Only at the end of the season with the final attendance figures are in will we know how well all clubs (and leagues) are doing.

Wichita is currently outdrawing Winnipeg 5,955 to 5,535 because it is still kinda cold here in Canada as the snow recently melted. As it continues to warm up, so will the attendance increase in Winnipeg.

I don't think Simmy was talking about the AA, it was to the NoL owners. Most all the biting comments were about how the league has shrunk and how few opponents there are. He was using the media to voice the same things fans have said here. If he was saying any thing to the AA it was to try getting them interested in playing NoL clubs (again).

As for the AA... there's NO denial. This sounds like the classic line from Winnipeggers who just don't understand why other...
