I would never have guessed that McNamee would be on this list.

The RailCats declined the contract options on pitchers Grant Johnson, Roman Martinez and Onan Masaoka, catcher Nate McKeon, outfielders Jordan Czarniecki and Rob Marconi, and infielder Eric McNamee. Those players are now free agents, able to negotiate with any Northern League team, including the RailCats. Pitcher Aaron Cook is also now a free agent after playing out his option in 2009.

Good Luck to Anthony Esquer and Brett Wallace. It was great having you both in a Railcat uniform. You both will be missed. As Tagert was quoted in The Times, Both are deserving of being full time starters somewhere. Too bad it's not in Gary. I'll remember your 5 hit day in Winnipeg, Anthony, and Brett, your 7 RBI day will stand out in the memory banks. You both gave many quality starts behind the plate. Good Luck to you both with Lake County or where ever you end up.

What a great weekend!! Congratulations to the Redhawks the 2009 Northern League Champions. We made the trip to the Steelyard and had a great time. Of course it really did help that we won this time. Well, our guys gave us another great season but came up short in the Finals. Congratulations to the RedHawks for getting it done.

After the game, I heard Viano's assessment about how the 'Cats lost: lack of offense. He made lots of good points.

Now we all appreciate Tagert's style of play, which emphasizes singles and doubles as opposed to homers, but having two, perhaps three, guys who are homerun threats would be good. We really only have...

The series against the T-Bones was hard fought! This series against Fargo should be just as intense. Our pitching is looking verygood, and it seems as if Mr. Guerrero's bat is coming back to life! Labor Day vacation will be over tomorrow, so let's all gather at the Steel yard this weekend for that final push! My "father" and I will be expecting you!

I have to admit I have rarely seen a game as peculiar as the Sunday game at the Yard.
Even Rusty's dance-off victory was ... ah ... tainted.

Johnson pitched very well. This has to be a positive for the Cats for the playoffs.

I see the RailCats ended up with Andrew Pinckney after he failed to pass muster on the deal to Schaumburg. He's on the disabled list.

For those who listened to Gary's Tuesday game (8/11) against the Tbones, at one point in the broadcast, Andy was apologizing for being too "old timey baseball" and said something "just [wasn't] how baseball is supposed to be played." I didn't catch what he was talking about, though. Was he complaining about the pitching staffs again? Was it something at Community America Field? Thanks if you remember!
