After the RailCats right fielder made a complete fool of himself in the first inning, the game settled down and was within an extra-base hit of turning a
disaster into a comeback. The Hammers dodged a bullet Saturday night.

If the RailCats can convert some rallies to runs, they might do all right.

Cats still can't find much timely hitting, though and some pretty good pitching is being tested.

Nice to see baseball again, though it needed to be slightly above freeeeeeeeeeeeezing.
RailCats got a nice outing out of Cogan and the Hammers should be very happy with Sevier's start.
The Hammers showed some fundamentally sound baseball.
The Cats? Ummm .... we need to work on some things in Gary, like getting a few baserunners.
All the same, a crisply played opener.

Just looking over the Website, it seems Tagert has his 22 in place. With the clear exception of an almost new pitching staff, it seems the Cats will be pretty
much small-ball again this year. Lots of familiar faces back.

Tony Cogan and Jerald Plexico seem to be 1-2 in the pitching rotation, maybe not in that order.

Key newcomers: Christian Guerrero and Robby Marconi.
