I am just curious if anybody thinks that Tyler would be a good expansion location. Does anybody know why nobody has tried Tyler sense 2001? I haven't heard the AA, UBL, or even CoBL mention it. Did I miss something? Mike Carter Field seems like a nice old stadium with a bit of charm.

Just curious on anybody's thoughts.

Darren Rovell's Minor League logo contest is about to come down to the elite eight. Wichita and Grand Prairie are still in the competition. As of noon, Wichita was leading over Trenton by 4%! Widen the margin!!!!

BPD reports that ULB is trying to build a ballpark in downtown Dallas (again)...

The independent United League Baseball is once again pitching a new ballpark for downtown Dallas as part of a convention-center hotel development. ... The latest proposal from ULB founder John Bryant would meet the specifications for the project to be a mixed-use development.

It's hard to say if things on this go 'round will come out any different.

2008 Schedule Out (finally) -- StJ and CB Gone (officially)

The league finally announced the 2008 schedule. It'll be on the league site Friday.

With little fanfare they acknowledge the end of of Coastal Bend and St. Joe.

With Grand Prairie and Wichita added, St. Joe and Coastal Bend will not operate.

So the league is the same size but with stronger franchises....

League makes expansion plans "official" -- 16 by '11

In a press release today the AA made clear they want 16 teams by 2011:

At the annual meeting of the American Association held in Pensacola, Florida, on October 3, the league directors voted a goal of expansion to 16 teams by 2011. The league, located in the central United States, has new press release welcoming the two new clubs (GP & Wichita) but left the troubled two (CB & StJ) in limbo for now. The key items:

The lineup for next season is set with a minimum of 10 clubs. The South Division will consist of the El Paso Diablos, Fort Worth Cats,...

Is there a deadline for teams to exercise the option of securing players for the 2008 season? I have read transactions of the AA website that many teams have already done it, but not all of them. I was just wondering if there was some sort of time limit on this?
